Thank you for your interest in the Valley's Voice youth conference.
We recently decided to postpone the conference from April to August of this year so that we may hold it in person at a fun outdoor venue!
On Monday, August 9th from 3-8 pm at the Avon Nottingham Pavilion, all youth in 6th-12th grade in the Eagle River Valley have the opportunity to present on an issue that is particularly interesting to them, or that they feel passionate about solving. We have provided 6 issues for a presenter to choose from, which are: Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Tobacco 21+, The Environment, LGBTQ+ and Kindness/Bullying. Of course, they may also propose to present another issue that is not listed above, so long as it relates directly to our community. They will have the option of presenting for 30 minutes (time slots TBD), which will include Q&A and discussion time. All they must do is fill out this very simple google form and we will help with everything after that.
The presentation does not need to be started or completed when you apply:
We hope to accomplish the following with our conference:
1. Provide 6-12th graders with a platform to speak on an issue they have seen our youth struggle with
2. To hold discussions with other youth and adults in our community about the various issues youth face that have yet to be solved
3. To gather data about those issues that can then be presented to our community partners
4. Provide youth with leadership workshops led by other community partners throughout the event, that ideally relate to the Big Ideas in some way (mental health, LGBTQ+, the environment, bullying, kindness, substance abuse, tobacco 21+)
Registration to attend the conference, all ages invited, will open in July 2021.
If you have any questions either about presenting or attending, please email email@example.com.
If you feel passionately about ending underage tobacco and vaping, this is the topic for you.
If you feel passionately about solving young people's mental health issues, this is the topic for you.
If you feel passionately about stopping youth from underage drinking and drug usage, this is the topic for you.
If you feel passionately about young people who are LGBTQ+, this is the topic for you.
If you feel passionately about bringing awareness to our environment and about creating environmental sustainability, this is the topic for you.
If you feel passionately about bringing more kindness into our community and ending things like bullying, this is the topic for you.
Any high school or middle school student in Eagle County can present at the August 2021 Youth Conference (date TBD) and discuss an issue they are passionate about solving in our community.
